St Patrick’s Day is a celebration that takes place on March 17th to commemorate St Patrick, who brought Christianity to Ireland. The clover is associated with this day because St. Patrick used it to explain the holy trinity with its three leaves. This idea was new to native Ireland inhabitants who had believed in polytheism up until this point. Over time the annual celebration became a large feast in which people took a break from lent to participate in eating rich foods and drinking ale. Other folklore has been intertwined with St Patrick’s Day, like finding a Leprechaun and making him lead you to his pot of gold is only possible on this day. No matter your religious background or belief in St Patrick’s day, it’s a fun excuse to dress in all green and dive in to another culture for a few hours!
